I don’t trust politicians. The same way I don’t trust fanatics of a political posture defending the indefensible just because they share the same “political views” without wondering if they share the same ethics too.
Also, if you are the kind of “intellectual” that defends this kind of governments from the first world, why don’t you come to Latin America and experience them in first hand? It’s not the same socialism you would expect in Sweden you know?
In my life in Latin America between Ecuador and Argentina, I’ve been disappointed over and over again by the office in turn. Truth is that a political career nowadays is a synonym of getting rich with bribes and getting away with it most of the time. This message has awaken legions of parasites looking for their turn in any government position. Like if they were on a TV show. “Who gets rich faster”
In Ecuador, during Rafael Correa’s term in the office, 70.000 million dollars disappeared in corruption. And you thought Justin Bieber is rich…
I wrote Lights out some time ago, around November 2018 and it went for Mixing and Mastering to the hands of my engineer Chris Peden in England around August 2019. I’ve been keeping this track with me to include it in the release of my album for 2021.
Elections in Ecuador will be held in just a few days and the political situation in my two countries are not getting better. So I thought this good be a good moment to release this single. Besides, a few months ago my dear friend Jorge passed away. He was recognized as the face that fought corruption in Ecuador for decades, he was also my mentor, so I would like to dedicate this song to his memory.
Lights out is an Alternative Rock song that delivers. I took Incubus as an inspiration, specially on the guitar solo, playing with harmonics and a wha pedal. This oughta be my favorite guitar solo till date.
You could definitely feel a dark sense of protest in the air, percussion and horns bring drama to the pre verse, while the chorus feels catchy and alive. It’s a simple song that falls in place.
In this song, you will hear Jordan McQueen in drums. Such an easy fella to work with.
